These Savages (2008)

'These Savages' is a journey through graveyard woods (These Hands, These Woods), across the ocean's floor (the Ocean's Maw) and into the desert's poison-heat (Salazar). Along the way, we meet cute werewolves (Jennifer), tongue-tied superheros (I'm Your Superhero), and bemused suicide cases (A Very Tall Building). We witness failed coups (Skiff), blunt head trauma-inspired trips through Neverland (My Hip Albatross), and hearts broken during a war with the robots (Disappointment). 'These Savages' is an acoustic guitar-based album. It starts with that instrument and then sees where it can go: Punk, Pop, Funk, Folk, Dance, etc.

BIOGRAPHY

The Licks are wee furies at work in the night, kicking things into rhythm, collecting bits and weaving them together. They are tiny d'jins coaxing stories from strange places. They put small machines together, in the dark, and set them loose. They are Marian, who makes sense, Matt, who makes sound, and Grace, who makes nice. They live in the Astoria, NY and perhaps have never been in a room together at the same time.
